The Sikkim State Cooperative Union (SICUN), in collaboration with ASHA Foundation (Kalimpong, West Bengal) and facilitated by Sanjivani Rishikalp (Yog Naturopathy, Pakyong), organised a free health camp at SICUN Assam Linzey on December 12, offering a range of services including eye examinations, Ayurvedic treatments, Acupressure Therapy, and Magnetic Therapy.
The inaugural session was attended by Dr Mangaljit Rai, Chairman of SICUN; Phadung Bhutia, CEO of SICUN; Rajesh Dahal, BDO of Namchebong; along with healthcare professionals from both the ASHA Foundation and Sanjivani Rishikalp.
During his brief address, the SICUN Chairman expressed his pride in witnessing such an event during his tenure, noting that SICUN not only prioritises training programs but also engages in social initiatives that benefit local villagers. He encouraged the community to fully utilise the health camp’s resources.
In an introductory session, the CEO articulated the camp’s significance for locals requiring medical assistance, urging those in and around Assam Lingzey to take advantage of this opportunity. He also requested villagers to disseminate information regarding the camp as it will continue until the end of the day.
Rajesh Dahal extended his gratitude to Sanjivani Rishikalp and the ASHA Foundation for providing this service to the community, as well as to SICUN for its organising efforts. He reiterated the programme’s advantages, encouraging local residents to participate.
Ravi Darnal, a consultant from Sanjivani Rishikalp, provided a brief overview of the programme, highlighting the availability of free Ayurvedic medications for various ailments, as well as recommending Acupressure and Magnetic Therapy, including training on their application and necessary exercises.
Additionally, free spectacles with frames will be provided, along with discounts on other eyewear. The registration fee for the check-up is nominally set at Rs. 50, a press release informs.
