
Singling SC clinched the Senior Women’s Football League title with a commanding 6-0 win over Gangtok Himalayan SC in the final played at Paljor Stadium on Sunday.
The Soreng-based side dominated the match as Kiran Pisda and Simrang Gurung netted three goals each to seal an impressive victory for Singling SC.
MLA Kala Rai attended the final as the chief guest, while MLAs Tenzing Lamtha and Aditya Golay were present as special guests. The event was also attended by officials of the Sikkim Football Association (SFA), football enthusiasts and other invited guests.
Simrang Gurung, who scored a total of 20 goals during the tournament, was named the player of the tournament. Gangtok Himalayan SC goalkeeper Gyurme Dolma received the award for best goalkeeper.
Singling SC was awarded the winners’ trophy and a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh, while runners-up Gangtok Himalayan SC received Rs 50,000 along with the trophy.
The six-team league, which began on February 24, was organised by the SFA with Generali Central Insurance Company as the title sponsor. #swatantra_aawaj
