GANGTOK: The third coordination meeting of the District Level Advisory Monitoring Committee (DLAMC) under the District Coordination & Monitoring Committee (DISHA) was held today at the Community Hall in Pakyong, with Lok Sabha MP and DISHA Chairman Indra Hang Subba chairing the session.
The high-level meeting was attended by key officials including Education, Sports & Youth Affairs, Law, and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Raju Basnett; Zilla Adhakshya Laden Lhamu Bhutia; Zilla Upadhakshya Prabha Pradhan; Pakyong DC Rohan Agawane; and senior representatives from various departments, along with officials from NHIDCL, AAI, and Indian Railways.
In his address, Subba emphasized the need for stronger interdepartmental coordination to address developmental challenges and ensure timely execution of ongoing projects. He urged the public and local bodies to actively participate in governance by engaging with legislators and administrative officers.
“The DISHA platform is not just for reviewing projects but also for shaping the district’s roadmap through public participation and constructive dialogue,” he stated, calling for a collaborative approach between citizens, panchayats, and the administration.
Echoing these sentiments, Minister Raju Basnett stressed community engagement and accountability as key pillars for successful implementation of regional projects. “Public ownership is crucial for avoiding future complications in development work,” he said.
Highlighting local concerns, Zilla Upadhakshya Prabha Pradhan raised the issue of delayed maintenance in several areas, noting that residents were facing considerable difficulties.
The meeting also included updates from key infrastructure and social service agencies:
Col. K.A. Siddique (NHIDCL, PMU Rhenock) and Mr Apan Bhaumik (NHIDCL, PMU Ranipool) provided updates on the status and progress of road projects in their respective areas.
Kailash Sharma, DE Zilla, presented ongoing works under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM).
Sunita Dahal, Social Welfare Officer, reviewed centrally sponsored schemes in the district.
Balasaheb Pote, Director of Pakyong Greenfield Airport, outlined ongoing development challenges.
Pravesh Sagar, Additional GM, shared updates on the Sivok-Rangpo Railway Line project and its infrastructure progress.
Both Lok Sabha MP Indra Hang Subba and Minister Raju Basnett expressed concern over project delays, particularly in road connectivity and the JJM initiative. They urged department heads to ensure faster execution and reiterated the importance of coordinated efforts for the district’s sustainable growth, informs an IPR release.
