GANGTOK: The Land Revenue & Disaster Management Department convened a meeting on the maintenance and updation of records pertaining to lands acquired by various Government Departments at the Conference Hall of Tashiling Secretariat on 9th September 2025.
The meeting was held in compliance with the directions of the Cabinet in its meeting on 27th June 2025. The Cabinet had directed proper maintenance of land records acquired by the Government through various Departments and instructed all Departments to prepare a list of all lands acquired in the last 10 years by 31st December 2025.
The meeting was chaired by Secretary, Land Revenue & Disaster Management Department, Mingma T. Sherpa. Present were the designated Estate Officers of various Government Departments and officers of the Land Revenue & Disaster Management Department, while representatives of the District Collectors joined virtually.
During the meeting, the Secretary, LR&DMD, provided a brief background and purpose of the exercise, highlighting the urgent requirement of preparing a database of all Government land under the possession of various Departments. He stressed timely completion of the updation of records within the stipulated deadline, while also emphasizing the importance of historical land records and outlining the course of action for ensuring complete and systematic record maintenance in the future.
The Additional Secretary, LR&DMD, reiterated the Cabinet’s directions, and the Programme Director, Digital India Land Records Modernization Programme (DILRMP), presented Government land records through the Integrated Land Record Management System (ILRMS). The meeting also featured an interactive session, during which clarifications on land records were provided by LR&DMD officials, a press release informs.
