
GANGTOK: Nepali film ‘Shape of Momo’ has won the Jury Award at the Jaffna International Cinema Festival and has been nominated for the prestigious Ingmar Bergman International Debut Award 2026 at the Göteborg International Film Festival, Sweden.
The film is also scheduled to be screened later this month at the Festival International des Cinémas d’Asie de Vesoul, France. Continuing its strong festival journey, ‘Shape of Momo’ has additionally been selected for the 22nd Third Eye Asian Film Festival and the Guwahati Asian Film Festival.
Directed by Sikkimese filmmaker Tribeny Rai, ‘Shape of Momo’ continues to gain international recognition for its distinctive voice and cinematic vision.
Reacting to the accolades, Rai said, “These awards and recognitions stand as a testament to the team’s hard work and perseverance. While I am thoroughly enjoying the festival run, I am most eager to bring the film back to our people in Sikkim and North Bengal. Many have been reaching out to ask where they can watch the film, and it is important to me that they experience it on the big screen.”
