GANGTOK: Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang on Sunday chaired a coordination meeting to review the preparations for the upcoming Sikkim International Film Festival, which is scheduled to be held from 19th to 22nd March in Gangtok. During the meeting, the Secretary of the Information and Public Relations (IPR) Department Smt. Annapurna Alley delivered a detailed presentation outlining key aspects of the festival. The presentation covered the proposed venues, estimated costs, committees constituted to oversee various responsibilities, logistical arrangements, programme schedules, and the dignitaries expected to attend the event.
Highlighting the importance of the festival, the Chief Minister encouraged the concerned departments and all line departments to work in close coordination to ensure smooth planning and execution of the event. He stated that the Sikkim Film Festival provides a valuable platform to showcase the state on an international stage and reflects the government’s commitment to promoting Sikkim through art and cinema.
The Chief Minister also emphasised that the festival offers a unique opportunity to celebrate and present Sikkim’s breathtaking natural beauty, vibrant traditions, and rich cultural heritage to a wider audience. He noted that events of this nature play an important role in strengthening cultural identity while promoting the state as an attractive destination for cinema, art, and tourism.
