GANTOK: Press Club of Sikkim is organizing a three day workshop starting from 13th September till Sunday at SICUN premises in Assam Lingzey, Pakyong District.
The inaugural session of the workshop will be attended by Rural Development Minister Arun Upreti and Information & Public Relations Advisor legislator Lal Bahadur Das on Friday.
The workshop aimed for journalists of the State has witnessed the registration of 38 journalists, a press release informs.
The workshop will be conducted by eminent resource persons led by Indian Institute of Mass Communication Regional Director Professor Mrinal Chatterjee along with Sikkim Police’s Additonal Director General of Police Akshay Sachdeva, State Women Commission member secretary Yousa Lachenpa, senior advocate Tashi Rapden Barphungpa, Sikkim University professor Puja Basnet, senior journalists Pema Wangchuk Dorjee and Vivek Chettri, and former West Bengal legislator and journalist Harka Bahadur Chettri.
The workshop timed with the 50th statehood celebration of Sikkim next year aims to highlight the pre and post democracy accomplishment of journalism in the State.
The workshop is an opportunity for journalists to learn the media laws and ethics of journalism, legal reporting, Fake News debunking, the basis of IIMC model of learning journalism, along with advent of digital media along with importance of print journalism among other topics.
The three day workshop will conclude on September 13.
