Annual General Meeting of Thakurbari Management Committee Held in Gangtok

GANGTOK: The Annual General Meeting of the Thakurbari Management Committee, Gangtok, was held at the Thakurbari Mandir Hall, on February 27.
The primary agenda of the meeting was to elect five representatives from each Bihari, Marwari, and Nepali communities, through a fair and transparent voting process.
The meeting was graced by the presence of Mr Tushar Nikhare, District Collector, Gangtok, and Mr Tenzing Loden Lepcha, Senior Superintendent of Police, Gangtok.
Mr Sandeep Kumar, Assistant Collector, served as the Returning Officer whereas Mr Milan Rai, ADC (Dev), was designated as the election observer. Mr Tshering Norgyal Theengh, ADC (Hq) Gangtok, was also present to oversee the election process.
The officers and staff from the Election Cell, Gangtok District, conducted the election process under the supervision of the Returning Officer and Observer.
Addressing the gathering, Mr Tushar Nikhare emphasised that a total of 15 members, five from each of the three communities, would be elected to manage the administration of the Thakurbari Mandir. The elected members will be responsible for making key management decisions, which will subsequently be reviewed by higher authorities. From amongst the elected members, a President and Vice President will be chosen. He further clarified that while the Senior Superintendent of Police and District Collector will serve as Ex Officio members, they will not intervene in the election process unless internal dissensions emerge.
Returning Officer cum Assistant Collector, Mr Sandeep Kumar provided a detailed briefing on the election process, ensuring clarity on the voting and counting procedures before the election commenced.
Bihari Community: The five representatives from the Bihari community were unanimously elected uncontested:
Mr Anil Kumar Gupta,
Mr Rajeev Mishra,
Mr Biswamitra Prasad,
Mr Ajit Kumar Prasad, and
Mr Rahul Kumar Gupta.
Marwari Community: The selection of members from the Marwari community was conducted through a voting process under the supervision of the Observer and the Committee Chairman. The following candidates were elected:
Mr Pawan Kumar Mittal,
Mr Raj Kumar Singhi,
Mr Subash Daga,
Mr Sajjan Agarwal, and
Mr Sat Bhagwan Agarwal.

Nepali Community: The election process was carried out smoothly, resulting in the selection of the following members:
Mr Navin Lamichaney,
Ms Sabita Rai,
Mr Gopal Pradhan,
Mr Pravin Gurung, and
Mr Ashok Rai.

The counting process was witnessed by two members of each community. Thereafter, the winning candidates were presented with a certificate.
Mr Tushar Nikhare congratulated the newly elected members, acknowledging them as the legitimate Thakurbari Management Committee responsible for overseeing all official correspondence. He urged them to set a date for elections to various posts and to inform him of the number of positions required. Additionally, he emphasised that the elected management committee would now be responsible for managing the accounts. He encouraged the members to take all necessary measures to maintain the Mandir and its premises recognising its significance as a central landmark in the town.
The meeting concluded on a positive note, with all elected representatives set to take up their responsibilities in ensuring the effective management of Thakurbari Mandir.
