NAMCHI: The final day of the Folk Tales Narration programme concluded successfully at Creative Hub 2.0, Jorethang Green Park on Thursday.
The programme was graced by the Press Secretary to the Chief Minister, Mr Yougan Tamang, as the Chief Guest.
Mr Hari Bhakta Sharma, representing the All Sikkim Chettri Bahun Association, and Mr Sanjay Potal, representing the All Sikkim Scheduled Castes Welfare Board Association, were present as speakers for the event.
Press Secretary to the Chief Minister, Mr Yougan Tamang, expressed his gratitude to the Chief Minister for his visionary approach towards Cultural Creativism.
He extended his gratitude to both the speaker representatives for their valuable contributions to the programme.
Further, he lauded the Information and Public Relations Department for creating a platform that promotes reading culture and folk tale narration.
Highlighting the importance of cultural preservation, he emphasised the need to conserve and safeguard traditions and cultural heritage for future generations by passing them down meaningfully.
Lastly, he stated that a community or caste becomes stronger when the history and heritage of that caste are well understood and preserved.
Both the speakers expressed their sincere gratitude to the Chief Minister Mr Prem Singh Tamang for his continued support and encouragement towards the promotion of cultural heritage. They also extended their thanks to MLA Zoom Salghari, Chief Patron of the Maghey Sankranti Mela Mr Madan Century, and the Information and Public Relations Department for providing them the opportunity to participate in the programme.
Representing the All Sikkim Scheduled Castes Welfare Board Association Mr Sanjay Potal narrated folk tales on the themes ‘Teen Jati Ko Katha’ and ‘Danthay and Sathya Katha’, which highlighted social harmony and traditional values.
Meanwhile, Mr Hari Bhakta Sharma, representing the All Sikkim Chettri Bahun Association, addressed the gathering through a folk story authored by him titled ‘Ghamand’. Through his narration, he emphasised that knowledge holds greater value than pride, conveying the moral that while pride may fade, knowledge remains a lifelong asset that no one can take away.
