PAKYONG: District Collector Pakyong, Rohan Agawane, conducted a visit today to evaluate the impact of the landslide on the Lower Bering area. The purpose of this visit was to assess the extent of the damage and to coordinate the necessary resources for effective restoration.
Accompanying him were the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Pakyong, Divisional Engineer from the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), and the RO/AD.
The District Collector conducted a thorough examination of the damage to the infrastructure, with particular emphasis on the roadways that are essential for connectivity and mobility within the region.
In this regard, he instructed the PMGSY team to perform a comprehensive assessment of the restoration costs and to identify the required engineering interventions to restore the damaged roads to a safe and functional condition.
Furthermore, Agawane instructed SDM Pakyong to issue a notice to vacate the premises to Mr Tulshi Ghimirey, a resident whose property lies in close proximity to the landslide-affected area.
The DC also directed DE, PMGSY to convene a meeting with the Panchayats and landowners within the week to amend the existing route in order to devise a permanent resolution to the recurring challenges in the Bering area.
Additionally, machinery has already been deployed to remove the debris and restore the road to a motorable condition within the week.
