PM Modi to attend Sikkim’s 50th Statehood Day celebrations

NEW DELHI: In a significant gesture, Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang met with the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi on August 26, to formally invite him to be the Chief Guest at Sikkim's Statehood Day celebration on May 16, 2025.

NEW DELHI: In a significant gesture, Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang met with the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi on August 26, to formally invite him to be the Chief Guest at Sikkim’s Statehood Day celebration on May 16, 2025.

To commemorate this historic event, the Government of Sikkim has planned a year-long series of activities under the theme “Sunaulo, Samridha, and Samarth Sikkim,” reflecting on the state’s history both before and after the merger. The Chief Minister expressed great honour and delight that the Prime Minister has graciously accepted the invitation to attend.

The presence of the Prime Minister would greatly enhance the significance of the celebration, making it a truly memorable occasion. It would be an exceptional opportunity to showcase Sikkim’s rich cultural heritage and natural beauty in his esteemed presence,

During the meeting, the Chief Minister also conveyed his heartfelt greetings and best wishes to the Prime Minister on the auspicious occasion of Janmashtami. Their discussions were described as profound and productive, addressing a range of issues concerning the state of Sikkim.
