PAKYONG: As part of efforts to strengthen public engagement, the Pakyong District Police Department organised a Community Policing programme at the Community Hall Pakyong on Thursday.
Community policing is a collaboration between the police and the community to identify and solve community problems in the effort to enhance the safety of society.
The event was graced by the Director General of Police, Akshay Sachdeva, alongside Senior Superintendent of Police Pakyong, Paru Ruchal; Additional Superintendent of Police Pakyong, ML Pradhan; SDPO Pakyong, Bikash Rai, and SHO Pakyong, Pradeep Chettri.
Addressing the gathering, Akshay Sachdeva emphasised the role of community partnership in addressing social issues and modern crimes, including cybercrime, substance abuse, and traffic violations. He then highlighted strategies to tackle such challenges and underscored the importance of preserving cultural heritage.
Recognising the vital contribution of safety and service by the police department, he urged the attendees to collaborate with law enforcement to work towards building a safer community for all.
During the event, the students and police engaged in engaging exercises to tackle simulated real-life social scenarios, facilitating a deeper understanding of community issues and potential solutions.
An open interaction session was also held wherein the participants shared their feedback and suggestions regarding the functionality of the police department in the district.
Also present were Zilla Panchayats, Panchayats, teachers and students from various schools.
