GANGTOK: Raj Bhavan played host to a special event, ‘Yoga Samavesh’, on Tuesday morning to mark the upcoming 11th International Yoga Day. The event, organised by the National AYUSH Mission and the Health & Family Welfare Department, Government of Sikkim, was dedicated to differently-abled persons and held under the theme “One Earth, One Health.”
The Governor of Sikkim, Om Prakash Mathur, graced the occasion and actively participated in the yoga session, reaffirming his commitment to inclusive wellness. He was joined by Health Minister G.T. Dhungel, and Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department, Prabhakar Verma.
A major highlight of the programme was the participation of differently-abled children from two special schools. The children, guided by certified yoga instructor Dr. Sumiran Tamang, engaged in the session with great enthusiasm and focus. The practices were specially adapted to suit their comfort and abilities, making the session both inclusive and empowering.
Senior officials, yoga practitioners, and Raj Bhavan staff were also present, lending strong support to the initiative, a Raj Bhavan release informs.
The event reflected a growing emphasis on accessible health practices and the unifying power of yoga.
