GANGTOK: The Sikkim Forest & Environment departments EIACP (Environmental Information, Awareness, Capacity building and livelihood Program) Hub as been conferred as the Best State EIACP Centre in the North-East Zone in the regional category awards by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC).
The award was present during the All India EIACP Coordinator’s Meet held at New Delhi on September 7.
EIACP is a pan India scheme.
The award containing medallion and certificate was presented by MoEF&CC to State Forest and Environment department represented by Kusum Gurung, Joint Director cum EIACP Coordinator and Rajen Pradhan, Sr. Programme Officer, a press release informs.
“The award is a testimony of concerted efforts of the Government of Sikkim and Forest and Environment Department in promoting sustainable lifestyle through green skilling of unemployed youths, school dropouts etc. on livelihood generation activities such as beekeeping, bamboo crafts, solar energy systems and forest fire management. Sikkim EIACP Hub also hosts the country first EIACP Green Skilling Marketing Outlet at Deorali near GMC to market the products of over 400 green skilled candidates enrolled so far,” said the department.
