GANGTOK, October 4 (IPR): The state of Sikkim paid tribute to its former Chief Minister, Late Nar Bahadur Bhandari, on the occasion of his 84th birth anniversary in a solemn ceremony held at Samman Bhawan, Gangtok.
The ceremony had the presence of Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang-Golay along with Madam Krishna Rai, Deputy Speaker, Sikkim Legislative Assembly, Cabinet Ministers, Advisors, Mayor, Deputy Mayor, GMC, Councillors, former Legislators, Heads of various government departments and senior officials.
The event commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp before the portrait of Late Nar Bahadur Bhandari, led by the Chief Minister of the State. The dignitaries also paid homage by offering khadas, adding to the solemnity and respect of the occasion.
During the celebration, Dr Geeta Niroula, Associate Professor, Nar Bahadur Bhandari Government College (NBBGC ) presented a brief account of the life of Late Mr Nar Bahadur Bhandari.
The commemoration ceremony saw participation from political leaders, and dignitaries, who paid their tributes to the enduring legacy of the leader known as the Architect of Modern Sikkim, who transformed Sikkim’s landscape.
