GANGTOK: BJP Sikkim State President DR Thapa, accompanied by party executives Sangay Gyatso Bhutia and Nim Pintso Bhutia, called on the Honble Governor of Sikkim, Om Prakash Mathur, at Raj Bhavan on Saturday. The delegation extended their warmest greetings on the auspicious occasion of Deepavali.
During the courteous exchange, Thapa brought to the Governor’s attention the pressing issue of road connectivity in North Sikkim, as well as concerns regarding National Highway 10, a State BJP press release informs.
The Governor, with utmost assurance, conveyed that concerted efforts are underway and that road connectivity up to Lachen in North Sikkim is expected to be restored by December. He further informed the delegation of his close monitoring of the situation through ongoing engagements with the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), said the State BJP.
The Governor also assured the delegates about NH 10, with speedy restoration works executing by the NHIDCL.
Furthermore, in response to the earnest request of the BJP executives, the Governor graciously committed to supporting the construction of a community playground in each of Gnathang Machong Constituency and North Sikkim to encourage sports and games at village level, underscoring his dedication to the welfare and development of the state, the release mentions.
The BJP delegates expressed heartfelt gratitude to Raj Bhavan for its continued guidance and support in progress and prosperity of Sikkim.
