PRESS RELEASE
Citizen Action Party- Sikkim Delegation Visits Geyzing Police Station Over Online Harassment, Rape Threats, and Women’s Safety Concerns
Geyzing, 3 December 2025 — A delegation from the Citizen Action Party (CAP), led by Ms. Edu Tshering Bhutia, Vice President of the All Sikkim Youth Welfare Council accompanied by General Secretary (Organisation ) Mr. Prakash Parajuli, Geyzing District President Mr. Ongdila Bhutia, and Ms. Reema Chapaghai — the victim who has been receiving online rape threats since September 2025, visited the Geyzing Police Station today to file a formal complaint regarding the escalating online harassment. The visit reaffirmed the party’s strong commitment to women’s safety and its stance against all forms of gender-based violence.
The threats were issued through an unknown fake ID, raising serious concerns about online safety. In November, with the assistance of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the individual operating the fake ID was successfully identified. However, despite these significant efforts and the identification of the perpetrator, justice has yet to be delivered.
During today’s visit, the Station House Officer (SHO) stated that the matter was non-cognizable and therefore did not register the FIR. The case was instead forwarded to the Court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) for further action.
The Citizen Action Party expresses deep concern over the ongoing threats directed at Ms. Chapaghai and strongly condemns all forms of online abuse, harassment, and intimidation against women. The party stresses the urgent need for authorities to ensure accountability and timely justice to protect the rights, dignity, and safety of every woman.
Despite the challenges faced so far, the Citizen Action Party remains hopeful and determined. The party believes that with continued public support, collective vigilance, and the commitment of responsible authorities, justice will prevail. CAP stands united in its mission to create a safer, more respectful, and more inclusive society for all.
Edu Tshering Bhutia
Vice President
All Sikkim Youth Welfare Council
