GANGTOK: The Sikkim Chapter auditions of ‘Jhoom International: India’s first talent hunt show for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs)’ were successfully held on November 5 at the SICUN Auditorium, Assam Lingzey. The event marks a proud milestone for Sikkim as the first State to host this inspiring competition, showcasing talent, determination, and inclusivity.
A press release informs that the event was graced by minister Raju Basnet as the chief guest, in presence of Shadev Sharma, chief patron, and Pawan Parsai, president of the organising committee. Representatives from Shantidham Foundation, SKM Social Service Wing, Sarathi NGO, Saiyata Foundation, and SICUN were also in attendance, reflecting a strong spirit of collaboration among social and cultural organizations.
From over 70 plus individuals who took part in virtual auditions across the State, 16 semi-finalists were shortlisted for today’s round. Among them, three exceptional participants were selected to represent Sikkim at the national level, where they will compete with participants from across India, as well as from Nepal and Bhutan.
The Jhoom International competition is spearheaded by Shantidham Foundation, which has been organizing this remarkable platform for the past eight years to promote inclusivity, empowerment, and equal opportunities for persons with disabilities.
The foundation, along with all co-organisers from Sikkim has expressed heartfelt gratitude to Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang-Golay, and Krishna Kumari Rai for their continued support, guidance, and leadership in encouraging such inclusive initiatives. Their vision and commitment have been instrumental in fostering a society that celebrates ability in all its forms, the release adds.
The grand finale of Jhoom International is scheduled to be held at Manan Kendra, Gangtok, on November 9, promising an inspiring showcase of extraordinary talent and resilience.
