GANGTOK: The State BJP on September 12 held a review meeting at the party’s office in Gangtok regarding its ongoing membership drive. It was attended by Dushyant Kumar Gautam, National General Secretary of the party and former Rajya Sabha MP, and DR Thapa, State BJP president alongside party executives and karyakartas.
Since the launch of the membership drive on September 2, the party has seen a significant surge in membership, with over 2 crore members added nationwide and over 2000 members registered in the State of Sikkim, informs a Sikkim BJP press release.
Addressing the gathering, Gautam highlighted the party’s ideology, history, and struggles, emphasizing the importance of strengthening the BJP in a border State like Sikkim. He also encouraged the karyakartas to ensure maximum enrollment of members into the party. He shared his experience of participating in the membership campaign in a local village during his visit to Nathula earlier today.
State BJP president DR Thapa urged party workers to carry forward the membership drive more effectively, emphasizing the need to raise awareness about the various welfare schemes and employment opportunities offered by the Modi government.
Meanwhile, a resolution was passed by the gathering thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi for expanding the Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY scheme to include all senior citizens above 70 years of age. The resolution extended felicitation to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Health Minister JP Nadda on behalf of the people of Sikkim for making this welfare scheme a reality as per the announcement made during the recent general elections, the release mentions.
