PAKYONG: A coordination meeting for the implementation of Supreme Court order on stray dog management in institutional premises was chaired by District Collector, Pakyong, Mr Rohan Agawane at the conference hall of District Administrative Centre on Tuesday.
The meeting was attended by Additional District Collector (HQ), Mr Sabindra Rai; Chief Medical Officer, Dr Madan Mani Dhakal; Additional Director, AH&VS Department, Dr Anjala Pradhan; Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Mr Thendup Lepcha; SDM, LR&DM Department, Mr SK Pradhan; Deputy Director, Sports and Youth Affairs Department, Mr Nim Dorjee Bhutia; MEO Rangpo, Mr Suren Tamang; Bazar Officer UDD, Mr DP Sharma; GM NHIDCL, Mr A Bhaumik and Block Development Officers from various blocks under the district.
During the meeting, District Collector directed the concerned departments to prepare a comprehensive list of all institutional premises under the district’s jurisdiction,including schools and colleges, hospitals and PHCs, sports venues, bus stands, and key state and national highways.
The District Collector further sought strategies from the concerned departments, including inputs on sterilisation measures, availability of shelter houses, and the state-wide Sikkim Anti-Rabies and Animal Health (SARAH) programme, which encompasses animal birth control (ABC) and anti-rabies (AR) initiatives.
He also suggested a campaign through which residents could contact the AH&VS Department to report cases related to stray dogs and livestock.
Departments were asked to submit their lists within a specified timeframe for review.
