Sikkim CM Calls on Union Finance Minister, Discusses Developmental Priorities

GANGTOK: The Chief Minister of Sikkim, Shri Prem Singh Tamang (Golay), called on the Union Finance Minister, Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, in New Delhi and held a detailed and constructive discussion on key developmental issues concerning the State.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister expressed his sincere gratitude, on behalf of the people of Sikkim, to the Union Finance Minister and the Central Government for the Union Budget’s special focus on the North-Eastern Region, particularly the announcement of the Scheme for Development of Buddhist Circuits.
He stated that the Budget’s recognition of the North-East as a civilizational confluence of the Theravada and Mahayana/Vajrayana traditions has been widely welcomed in Sikkim. The Chief Minister noted that the proposed initiatives for the preservation of Buddhist sites and monasteries, improvement of connectivity, and enhancement of pilgrim amenities closely align with the State’s rich cultural and spiritual heritage. The discussions also covered various developmental priorities and issues of significance to the State.
The Chief Minister reiterated Sikkim’s appreciation for the Central Government’s continued attention and guidance on matters critical to the State’s progress, prosperity, and overall welfare. He further conveyed his gratitude to the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, for his visionary leadership and sustained support, under which Sikkim continues to receive encouragement for holistic and people-centric development.
Chief Administrator-cum-Cabinet Secretary Shri V.B. Pathak, Principal Resident Commissioner Shri A.K. Chand, and Secretary, CMO, Shri Karma Namgyal were also present during the meeting, informs a press release from Chief Minister’s Office.
