
GANGTOK: Sikkim Governor Om Prakash Mathur called on the Vice President of India, Jagdeep Dhankhar, in New Delhi on Friday.
During the meeting, the Governor apprised the Vice President of various ongoing developmental initiatives in Sikkim and discussed matters of mutual interest concerning the state’s progress. Issues related to infrastructure, education, tourism, and welfare of the people of Sikkim were also discussed, a Raj Bhavan release informs.
Continuing the series of meetings with several dignitaries in the national capital New Delhi, the Governor of Sikkim called on Defence Minister Rajnath Singh at his office, New Delhi, the same day. It was a courtesy call on by the Governor.
In a brief meeting, the Governor discussed various developmental schemes, projects and security-related issues of Sikkim with the Union Defence Minister. He also briefed the Union Minister about the recent natural calamity in Mangan district where army officer and personnel lost their lives in line of duty, the release mentions.
