GANGTOK: Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang addressed the 2025 batch of Probationary Officers from the Sikkim State Civil Services and the Sikkim Finance & Accounts Services at Samman Bhawan on Saturday.
Describing the young officers as the heart and future of Sikkim’s administrative machinery, the Chief Minister emphasised their pivotal role in shaping a governance model that is efficient, transparent, and people-centric. “The foundation you lay today will determine the strength and integrity of our future institutions,” he remarked during his address.
He noted that while formal training marks a significant milestone in their journey, learning must be a lifelong endeavor. He encouraged the officers to remain committed to their duties with humility, discipline, and an unwavering spirit of public service. Highlighting the importance of ethical conduct, the Chief Minister called on the officers to stay rooted in sincerity and selflessness. “I wish them all the very best in their careers and their service to the people,” he concluded.
Earlier in the programme, the Secretary of the Department of Personnel, Rinzing Chewang Bhutia, thanked the Chief Minister for his continued support in enhancing the state’s Administrative Training Institute (ATI). He also provided an overview of recent recruitment across various government departments, underscoring the administration’s efforts to strengthen human resources in public service.
He advised the new officers to become domain experts, continuously hone their skills, and learn from both senior colleagues, subordinates and field experiences. He encouraged them to stay grounded, actively participate in government events, and remain committed to inclusive and responsive governance.
During the event, the Probationary Officers also shared their training experiences and expressed their gratitude to the Chief Minister, the ATI, and the Government of Sikkim for the opportunity to serve.
The event was attended by Secretary Chief Minister’s Office Karma Namgyal, Director of (ATI) Mahesh Sharma, Deputy Secretary (ATI) Chabilal Sharma, along with other senior officials from the Department of Personnel.
