Gangtok: The first coordination meeting for the upcoming Super Car Rally, an event supported by the Black Cat Division under the aegis of Trishakti Corps of the Indian Army and the Government of Sikkim, was held today at the mini hall of the District Administrative Centre (DAC), Gangtok.
The joint meeting was co-chaired by District Collector (DC) Gangtok, Mr Tushar G Nikhare, Additional Political Secretary, Gangtok, Mr Tshering Wangchuk Lepcha, and the representative of the Indian Army.
The rally, led by the Mumbai-based Super Car Route group, will feature high-performance vehicles including Lamborghinis and Porsches. Organised as a self-funded and self-driven initiative, the event aims to position Sikkim as one of India’s most scenic and premier driving destinations.
The Trishakti Corps is extending support to promote Bharat Ranbhoomi Darshan, an initiative developed by the Ministry of Defence in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism. The programme offers citizens immersive access to India’s iconic battlefields and military heritage. Among these is Cho La, a historic mountain pass standing at 5,420 metres (17,782 ft) and remembered for its role in the 1967 Indo-China skirmishes. With its dramatic alpine landscape and strategic legacy, the pass is emerging as a key attraction for travellers and history enthusiasts. The initiative aims to strengthen battlefield tourism by encouraging visitors to explore locations that have shaped India’s military history and national identity.
Scheduled from 11 to 15 December, the rally will be flagged off from Sukna, West Bengal, before traversing through Siliguri, Gangtok, the Cho La Pass, Natu La, and the picturesque Gnathang–Zuluk stretch. The route is designed to showcase Sikkim’s beauty, its border landscapes, and the state’s exceptional road infrastructure.
During the meeting, organisers sought administrative and logistical support on several fronts, which the District Collector assured would be facilitated. The Additional Political Secretary suggested integrating state government schemes into the rally’s digital promotion campaigns to further amplify outreach.
It was also highlighted that the entire event will be fully funded by the participating car owners, who will be bringing their own vehicles.
In his vote of thanks, OSD to HCM Mr Rewaj Chettri expressed gratitude to all stakeholders for their cooperation and conveyed confidence that the rally would not only promote Sikkim but also generate positive visibility for the state’s highways and road networks.
The meeting also had the presence of SP Gangtok Mr Mahendra Subba, OSD to CM, Mr Rewaj Chettri, Seed Cell President Dr Raj Lama, senior officials of the Government, and representatives from Trishakti Corps, SAMSA, and Brothers.
