GANGTOK: Chief Secretary R Telang chaired a meeting to review the preparations for the 13th International Tourism Mart (ITM) 2025, at Teesta Lounge, Tashiling Secretariat on Friday.
The event, scheduled to be held at Pelling in Gyalshing district from 13 to 16 November 2025, is being organised by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, in collaboration with the Tourism and Civil Aviation department, Government of Sikkim.
The International Tourism Mart seeks to promote tourism in the North Eastern Region and foster business and cultural exchanges among participants from India and abroad.
In his remarks, Chief Secretary R Telang spoke about the importance of hosting the event in Sikkim. He said that the ITM would provide an opportunity to showcase Sikkim’s tourism potential, culture, and hospitality on a national and international platform. He added that the event would strengthen tourism cooperation among the North Eastern States and open new avenues for partnership in the sector.
R Telang called for teamwork and coordination among all departments to ensure the smooth conduct of the event. He encouraged officials to focus on cleanliness, safety, and logistics to provide a positive experience for visiting delegates. He also stressed the importance of completing all arrangements efficiently and on schedule.
The meeting reviewed plans for the inaugural session of the ITM and discussed arrangements for state guests, including transportation, accommodation, and liaison officers.
Line Departments were requested to provide full support in key areas such as road maintenance, law and order, water and power supply, fire safety, medical facilities, excise permissions, internet connectivity, traffic regulation, and media coordination.
The International Tourism Mart 2025 is expected to see participation from the Minister of Tourism, Government of India, the Minister of State for Tourism, Chief Ministers and Ministers of the North Eastern States, along with officials and delegates from India and other countries.
The meeting was attended by ACS, Tourism and Civil Aviation Department, Mr CS Rao, along with Heads of Departments and senior officials. The District Collectors of Gyalshing and Namchi also joined the meeting through video conference.
