PAKYONG: The District Administration, Pakyong, in collaboration with Nomad Sikkim, launched a first-of-its-kind Cohort Programme at Yakten, aimed at strengthening Sikkim’s entrepreneurial ecosystem and advancing the Chief Minister’s visionary initiative of “One Family, One Entrepreneur.”
The programme brings together two distinct groups: local entrepreneurs from Sikkim and cohort members from across India representing diverse fields such as technology, design, marketing, and finance. Commenced on October 5 and continuing till October 12, the participants will engage in collaborative problem-solving sessions to design practical solutions that address real challenges faced by budding entrepreneurs in Sikkim.
The initiative is being mentored by Dr Nitin Karir, Chairman, State Finance Commission, Maharashtra, and supported by Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), Sikkim, Indra Hang Subba, who has consistently championed youth-led innovation and entrepreneurship in the state.
The Nomad Sikkim team, which conceptualised and is executing this programme, has positioned it as the first-of-its-kind initiative in India where individuals from diverse geographies and professional domains assemble in a Himalayan setting to co-create entrepreneurial pathways for a state.
A clear result of the programme was seen on the first day, when two participants made a website for a local homestay owner. This helped the business go online within a few hours and showed the teamwork and problem-solving spirit of the programme.
The Cohort Programme signifies a step toward building a self-reliant and innovation-driven Sikkim and is expected to serve as a model for other districts across the country.
