GANGTOK: The Association of Group C & D Government Employees convened a meeting here in Gangtok on Tuesday to deliberate on important organizational matters. The main agenda was the expiration of the tenure of the present Adhoc Committee, which officially ended on August 26.
After detailed discussion, the house unanimously resolved to extend the tenure of the Adhoc Committee under the chairmanship of Norden Bhutia for a further period of 180 days. This extension has been granted to ensure smooth functioning of the Association and to complete the election process in a democratic and transparent manner, said the association in a press statement.
A major concern raised in the meeting was the recent government notification regarding renewal of Association registration. As per the notification, any Association failing to renew its registration within one month of notice will face cancellation of registration. Members agreed to initiate immediate steps to complete the renewal process within the given timeframe.
President Norden Bhutia further stated that if any problem arises in the renewal of registration, and in case cancellation of registration occurs, the responsibility shall rest solely with the group led by Sarala Tamang, the release states.
It was also observed that at present there are two Adhoc Committees of ASGEA Group C & D – one under the chairmanship of Norden Bhutia and another under the chairmanship of Sarala Tamang.
As per the release, the team of Norden Bhutia had extended a cordial invitation to Mrs. Tamang and her team to attend today’s meeting. However, they failed to participate. Members expressed concern that there may be undisclosed reasons behind their absence, and this issue was raised during discussions.
The house concluded by reiterating that the primary motive of this meeting is to unite both Adhoc Committees and form one common Adhoc Committee to carry forward the work of the Association in a fair, democratic, and united manner, the release mentions.
