Dzongu, 23rd May: In a significant step towards realising the organic and sustainable development vision of the Chief Minister of Sikkim, Prem Singh Tamang (Golay), the Block Administrative Centre (BAC), Dzongu has meaningfully initiated to transform barren land into a productive space.
Under the vision of the Chief Minister’s leadership and unwavering commitment to foster promotion of sustainable agriculture, BAC Dzongu has cultivated Dalle Khursani-widely known as Sikkim’s Fireball-on a unused private land located adjacent to the BAC premises. This initiative not only contributes to local food security but also enhances the state’s globally recognized position as the first fully organic state in the world.
The effort is part of a broader objective to revive uncultivated lands, support local livelihoods, and promote sustainable farming practices. Officials and staff of the BAC actively participated in the planting, exemplifying their dedication to grassroots implementation of the government’s organic mission.
This initiative is launched in full support of “Sunaulo, Samriddha, Samarth Sikkim”-a golden vision of prosperity, resilience, and inclusive growth-on the auspicious occasion of Sikkim celebrating 50 years of Statehood. It reflects the spirit of progress that has defined Sikkim’s journey over the last five decades, while looking forward to a sustainable and self-reliant future.
The cultivation of Dalle Khursani symbolizes more than just agricultural revival—it stands as a humble yet powerful tribute to the forward-thinking leadership of Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang (Golay), whose tireless efforts continue to elevate Sikkim as a model for environmental and socio-economic development.
