Sikkim CM inaugurates synthetic turf playground at Holy Cross School

GANGTOK: Chief Minister Mr Prem Singh Tamang-Golay, as the chief guest, officially inaugurated the synthetic turf playground at Holy Cross School, Tadong today.
The event also had the presence of Madam Krishna Rai, Mr GT Dhungel, Minster, Health and Family Welfare and Culture Departments, Mr Raju Basnet, Minister, Education, Sports and Youth Affairs, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Departments, Sister Celine Anthony, Provincial Superior, Mr Tashi Chopel, Secretary, Education Department, Mr Tshering N Theeng, ADC, Gangtok, Sister Sherin Jose, Principal, Holy Cross School, faculty and staff from the school, parents, students and other dignitaries.
In his address, Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang expressed gratitude to the school for the invitation and congratulated them on their remarkable progress and the recognition they have achieved so far.
He praised the school’s accomplishments in academics and acknowledged the efforts of the area MLA, Mr GT Dhungel, for facilitating the ground upgrade. The Chief Minister also emphasised the construction of the newly built foot over bridge, which enhances student safety.
Additionally, he outlined the state government’s initiatives in the education sector, encouraging everyone to focus on highlighting the state’s profile as it approaches 50 years of statehood. Stressing the importance of time management, he urged students to use their time wisely for a brighter future.
He assured the school administration of the state government’s readiness to provide any necessary assistance and announced a grant of 10 lakh rupees from the Chief Minister’s Discretionary Fund for further development of the school.
Sister Sherin Jose, Principal, Holy Cross, in her address, thanked all the dignitaries for their presence. She expressed deep gratitude to the state government for its ongoing support and commitment to the school’s growth and progress. She also acknowledged the invaluable support of the area MLA, Mr GT Dhungel.
Sister Sherin reflected on the rich history of the school, outlining the various initiatives it has undertaken, and proudly highlighted the students’ achievements in both academics and extracurricular activities.
Ms Yumita Rai, in her welcome address, welcomed the dignitaries and highlighted the government’s efforts to promote sportsmanship and foster a thriving sports culture in the state. She expressed her gratitude to the state government for its support to the school and extended heartfelt thanks to the area MLA, Mr GT Dhungel, for his continued support to the institution.
The programme also observed blessings and prayers led by Father David, St. Paul’s Church. Adding to the celebration, students of the school also presented engaging cultural performances.
