GANGTOK: In what the party has described as a “historic milestone,” the Citizen Action Party (CAP) Sikkim conducted its first-ever National Coordination Meeting in New Delhi on June 20. This marks the first time a Sikkim-based political party has formally convened at a national level outside the State, a move aimed at strengthening its engagement with Sikkimese citizens residing across India, as per the CAP Sikkim.
The CAP Sikkim informed in a press statement that the meeting focused on building connections with Sikkimese students, professionals, and patients who travel or reside outside the State for education, employment, public service, and healthcare.
The session was attended by key party figures including CAP Sikkim president Ganesh K Rai, national coordinator Pobin Hang Subba, and spokesperson Mahesh Rai. Discussions centered on developing a national structure to support the needs of Sikkimese communities across the country.
Addressing the meeting, Subba stressed the importance of national coordination in addressing systemic issues that affect Sikkimese citizens outside their home State. He highlighted the party’s growing efforts to engage central ministries and raise concerns about injustice and inequality at a broader level.
CAP Sikkim president Ganesh K Rai reiterated the party’s commitment to “clean, transparent, and ethical politics,” calling it the only sustainable path forward. He urged party workers and supporters to step up their outreach activities and to help establish a robust support network outside Sikkim.
One of the key outcomes of the meeting was the formation of a National Coordination Committee. The committee will oversee the party’s national initiatives and has already designated key roles including secretary, joint secretary, executive members, and advisors.
This historic meeting marks a new chapter in the evolution of CAP Sikkim, reaffirming its commitment to people-centric governance, proactive outreach, and the empowerment of Sikkimese citizens across India, said the party.
