GANGTOK, January 13: A review meeting to discuss issues related to projects undertaken by the National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) in Sikkim was held under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang at Mintokgang.
The meeting reviewed the status of NHIDCL projects across the state, including completed works, ongoing projects, and Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) under preparation, while also taking up district-specific concerns for deliberation.
Matters relating to Pakyong District were discussed, particularly issues raised by the District Collector regarding the section near the Welcome Gate, where two options; execution of work with uninterrupted traffic flow or execution after acquisition of additional land were examined.
Issues pertaining to Gyalshing District were reviewed with a focus on addressing administrative and implementation challenges affecting NHIDCL projects. The meeting reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to strengthening road infrastructure while ensuring minimal inconvenience to the public through coordinated efforts.
Executive Director (P) Shri Ashok Saha, General Manager(Land Acquisition) Col. Rajesh Kumar, General Manager (PMU, Ranipool) Shri Apan Bhowmik, General Manager (PMU, Rhenock) Col. AK Siddiqui and General Manager (NHIDCL, Gyalshing) Shri SBS Madhukar and senior state government officials were also present during the meeting, informs a press release from the Chief Minister’s Office.
