
GANGTOK: Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang-Golay unveiled the trophy for the 1st Chief Minister’s Gold Cup Open Volleyball Tournament, this evening here at M.G Marg, marking the beginning of a major sporting highlight within the upcoming Discover Rabong Cho-Dzo Fest 2025.
The tournament with ten participating teams is being organised with the support of the State Tourism & Civil Aviation Department, as part of a larger effort to promote sports and cultural tourism in the region.
Describing the tournament as more than just a competition, the Chief Minister called it a celebration of “teamwork, discipline, and the indomitable spirit of our youth.” He highlighted the government’s commitment to fostering a strong sporting culture and providing a platform for athletes from all walks of life to excel and inspire.
“We believe in creating opportunities for talent to thrive, and this tournament is a step in that direction,” he said, while extending his best wishes to all participating teams. “Play with passion, respect the game, and may the best team lift this prestigious trophy,” he added.
In addition to the sporting festivities, the Chief Minister also extended a warm invitation to all to attend the Cho-Dzo Fest 2025, scheduled from April 11 to 16 in Rabong. The festival promises a vibrant showcase of Sikkim’s cultural heritage, traditional arts, adventure activities, and community spirit.
“With events like these, we not only celebrate our traditions and sporting talents but also bring people together in the true spirit of unity and festivity,” the Chief Minister concluded.
