GANGTOK: The General Sagat Singh Memorial Cup is currently underway at the breathtaking Thegu Football Ground, perched at an extraordinary altitude of 12,600 feet above sea level in Sikkim.
Organized under the aegis of Indian Army, this prestigious tournament serves as a sporting tribute to the legendary Lt General Sagat Singh, who commanded the 17 Mountain Division and played a pivotal role in defending India during the historic Nathu La and Cho La clashes against Chinese forces in 1967.
The tournament kicked off on July 28 with a vibrant ceremony graced by MLA Pamin Lepcha. The inaugural event featured a rich cultural programme highlighting the traditions, music, and patriotism of Sikkim.
